Dear Friends,

This is a reminder to send in submissions to the first ever Artist Alcove art contest.  THE DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 18TH. We are looking to choose a logo design for KidXpress, a non-profit organization that pairs artists and writers with children. The winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to the art supply store of their choice.

But more importantly, you will be a part of something very special, a place that encourages, mentors and supports children through the arts. Please visit KidXpress and I have no doubt that by reading about their mission and message, you will be moved and inspired to create a logo design that will encompass the beauty and spirit of this incredible program.

    Thanks Kristy. Just to clarify a point, though, KidXpress has filed for non profit status back in June, but due to State of California budgetary cuts the application is still awaiting processing. We've been told that completion of the process, which is normally a few weeks, may not be finalized until the end of September. So our “official” status is that of a volunteer community out-reach program to foster literacy and art among kids.

    I like the picture! How ironic that an artist who uses color so forcefully opts to put up a photo in black and white!
