Well folks, let the trumpets be silenced and a hush fall upon the audience. The curtain raises and a scroll of names – in no particular order – unravels from the ceiling.

As the late, great Max Miller used to say: “You lucky people!” This is the list of writers who have an entry in our very first (I’m tingling with excitement just thinking about saying it…) anthology: The Coffee Shop Chronicles, Vol. 1: Oh, the Places I Have Bean!

Please check the list and, if your name is on it, check that we’ve spelled your name correctly and included any initials or excluded them, as the mood takes you. You have until FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 at 6 PM to advise us of any changes. E-mail any change to spellings only to  our oracle, Diana, at diana@awordwithyoupress.com

Here’s the list, and congratulations to EVERYONE involved. Tomorrow, I’ll show you the first of the cover designs – it’s not a vote, but we thought you’d appreciate seeing the options we looked at, and we’d love to read your comments. Right, enough from me, here’s all of you…

ME? ME? What about MMMMEEEEEEEE?????!!!! I didn't make the cut? Was it something I said?

  • Star5fallonmyheart

You didn't make the cut because you refused to use scissors. *hands over a cup of coffee*

  • Star5fallonmyheart

I'd like to thank the Academy…

In all seriousness, for a moment, I want to go out and say (and I'm guessing most of feel this way) what a pleasure that contest was. It worked miracles. I came into this contest and to this site thinking it was just another contest, but it wasn't. It was so much more than that. Richly rewarding, there is something special about this site and the people who frequent it. I'm honored to be here with you guys as my new friends, whether or not I got into the anthology.

So thank you Thorn, from the bottom of my heart for dreaming this all up and bringing it to fruition, thank you to everyone who comes on this site, who contribute selflessly (sometimes sleep-lessly…too much coffee while writing?), thank you Morgan for being the technological backbone that keeps us supported, and overall, thank you EVERYONE for making 2010 the best year of my life.

    COFFEE!!!

  • http://www.awordwithyoupress.com/ Thornton Sully

but not as good as 2011 will be for you, or 2012, then 13, then 14, then……then…

  • Star5fallonmyheart

    Um. That's ASSUMING that 2012 thing doesn't happen…

  • Julie Weinstein

Congratulations Everyone. So many of my favorite writers. I can't wait to read the CC. I didn't make the cut, but I don't drink the coffee anyways. No worries, not crying. I know some awesome writers are included in this first issue. I can't wait to read it.

  • Star5fallonmyheart

We still love you anyway =) I'll just spike your drink with coffee next time!

  • Julie Weinstein

So just have a cup of the magazine for me and a bag of beans and a note pad. Then we'll chronical the happenings with the winners. We'll see who winds up in who's coffee cup.

  • K. Roth

How exciting!! Congrats to everyone :)

  • Star5fallonmyheart

And to YOU! Like I said, we should go out and celebrate with COFFEE!!!

  • spykergyrl

Maybe you did make the cut under a nome de plume, and we'll never know. You've threatened as much a couple of times. But I don't know anyone who'd be bold enough to do that!

  • spykergyrl

Maybe this is a sign that you should start drinking coffee.

  • http://www.awordwithyoupress.com/ Thornton Sully

Thanks Kayla! Check back over the next two days to take a look at the covers we are considering and for publication details. And what about entering our Cat Tales contest? you could win a CAT ASS TROPHY!

    here are the details:

    I guess I'm just an un-nome.

  • AnnBan

Congratulations on the first anthology, Thorn, and thank you for all your hard work. I'm honored to be included.

  • spykergyrl

Well, you know what the great philosopher said: To thine nome self be true.

  • Derek

Do you mean the London Olympics or the end of life as we know it? For many people living in East London, that's already happened. It's like the Highland Clearances all over again.

  • Cmcochrane

Thank you for including one of my java stories!
It feels great to write something and have it actually go someplace where people can read it. A Word With You Press is such a stimulating writers group. I'm pleased to be part of if.
Congrats to all of you who will share the pages!

  • Mario

Nice! Thanks for this awesome opportunity, Thorn!

  • Nicholas conley

It definitely made my day to get this link in my inbox today. I'm excited and honored to be included.

Its a real pleasure to be part of this group of people. I found this web site just as this contest was starting and I was constantly amazed at the difference in each story as it would be posted. Thorn's encouragement was always there and the comments from other writers made me want to write that much more. I hope this first anthology will put AWWYP on the map. All of your hard work deserves it. Blessings, pd

Yay!! Can't wait to get a copy!

  • Caitlin M Foyt

So exciting! Thanks for the opportunity, Thorn!

  • Julie Weinstein

Hah, my not drinking coffee – so that explains it. I am way too hyper for that beverage, my friends. But not for this chronicle. I can't wait to read it. And as for Thorn- I think we need to keep the scissors away. Lest one of us end up with a crew cut. He is an editor after all.

  • RobynJ

    Woo hoo! Thanks, Thorn!

  • Star5fallonmyheart

    *huggles*

  • Diane Cresswell

    Thorn: Wow – I'm so surprised…

Thank you so much for this great surprise and I have to say that i'm so glad to be a part of a great group of people who like to write and have fun with it. I will continue to write and submit to the contests.

Thank you again so much for this inclusion – wasn't an expectation on my part at all – just had so much fun entering and writing.

Was a good day when I saw the ad and meeting you later.

    Thank you so much….

Oh my goodness! I had no idea I was included in the anthology! What an honor. This will be the first time I have ever been published, and it only makes sense that it has to do with my one and only (drink) obsession. This is awesome.

P.S. Does anyone find it amusing that I just got a barista position this week? Best week for coffee. Ever. Thanks again, Thorn!

I couldn't have said it better myself. Literally, I didn't say it that well in my comment above. : )

  • Star5fallonmyheart

    IT'S FATE =D THAT'S WHAT IT IS!

  • Star5fallonmyheart

I still think especially the comment about your recent job acquisition timed with the announcement about the anthology was awesome! That's life imitating poetry =D

  • Zyzzyx8827

Many Thanks for including my article. May you all continue to live by the universal code: Caffeinate…Dominate!

Like the Motto! thanks for helping us build a very popular site that allows so many people to express themselves in the written word within a truly interested community of readers and writers.

    Hi Mr. Sully,

I'm really happy to see you've done well with your site. It's amazing how many talented people are out there, but with site's like you're own, are able to have a dream. So often writers think it's a fathomless hole in which we live, but the encouragement you provide is warming and helps. It just goes to show by the figures you've seen. Congratulations on your growth!

I wish I had more time to spend with you and your site, but for now with my multiple commitments, it's difficult. Of course, I'll grow with you, and will submit occasionally, maybe more should I get a lull. Can't wait till the kids are grown!

    I can't thank you enough.

Thanks for this Steve. I hope The Flea Marketer does well, also. Why don't you respond to this response and put a link to your music, art, and writing website in the response? Let the folks here know there is life in New York.

Wild Turkeys could drag me away!

  • korrena

All I can say is that I'm shocked and thrilled to be included. Seeing the e-mail (late, thanks to my insistence on having multiple e-mail addresses) more than made gloomy post Labor Day weekend Tuesday – it pretty much made my summer. Thank you Thorn for your endlessly helpful correspondence, and your selfless dedication to a very worthy project.

  • http://www.awordwithyoupress.com/ Thornton Sully

no worries, Korrena. Your participation in this contest, andresponding to others who posted stories, is what fuels all this pleasure. I do hope you will continue to write. You have stories to tell, and I would like to hear what they are.
best wishes, and so glad we brightened up your labor day.
