What makes a Write Tight and a Tight Write Right is open to conjecture.  It can be the dialogue, the narrative – the way the words flow across the page.  Tisha Deutsch has combined the forms of story and poetry into a really tight write.

And don’t forget, it could be your entry sitting here (well, okay, on another page) – just follow the link to find out what you need to know:

The Secret They Shared

It was a gaze across the room, an instant of sudden stillness.

All else faded. The noise became quiet. They knew.

It was a white gown, a day of anticipation.

Union wrought with expectation. Dreams merged. They hoped.

It was new life, a year of sleeplessness.

Unparalleled joy arose. Danger grew palpable. They trudged.

It was disappointment, a period of awakening.

Words thrown like daggers. Tears stung. They mourned.

It was regeneration, a moment of renewal.

Fresh commitment was born. Forgiveness taught. They accepted.

It was a lover’s dance, the passage of lives intertwined.

Secrets shared. History unfolded. They lived.

Love it! To sum up years of marriage in 100 words–that’s fantastic.

Wow to sum up the adult life and understood “thing to do” it is beautifully sad like a Joy Division song. Well done.

Very sweet, intense, concise words, much like poetry. A good description of “that” look across the table, and how marriage involves so many ups and downs.
