Faded Love

She thought it would end in contempt.

Hatred would serve as her guide, usher her with companionship.

Anger, the kind that wells deep within, igniting, furious like fire, singeing the conscience with heat, urging her to dream of savory revenge, would surely provide fuel for her days.

Finality would be the welcome termination of an existence she was ready to forget, one that began lifetimes ago.

The calm took her by surprise.

There were no plots of vengeance.

Only hearts heavy laden with the sorrow and joy of carried memories.

Goodbye.

It was a quiet dismissal…the bittersweet farewell of faded love.

Free Love always comes at a price.

Looking through the song titles, this one reminded me of a friend who described the end of her marriage in far different terms than I would have expected. Although, I believe, to some degree, this happens even in enduring relationships – falling in and out of love – again and again.

Sounds like somebody needs a hug! Powerful writing and well received. Heck, after reading this I have a black eye and what I believe to be a bullet wound to the chest. Good Job! 911!

Savory revenge, would surely provide fuel for her days–nice. A well written little piece of twisted forest.

Tisha, this is very good. The feelings that you succinctly write about, definitely hit the spot where revenge takes hold. Then the calm acceptance. Write more…

    Tisha,
Beautifully written. Your descriptions are vivid and memorable. I particularly liked “singeing the conscience with heat”, and hatred ushering her “with companionship”.
    Blessings, pd
